USACE clarifies proposed day-use fees at Kendall Recreation Area
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 30, 2026) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is clarifying information shared last week about a proposed $5 daily day-use fee at Kendall Recreation Area below Wolf Creek Dam in Jamestown, Kentucky. The earlier communication presented the fee as a planned change; however, the proposal remains under evaluation, and no decision has been made.
While the Corps of Engineers is authorized to collect day-use fees to support facility maintenance and public safety, the Nashville District is actively evaluating the specific characteristics of Kendall Recreation Area — including public access to the fish hatchery, boat ramp, concession area, and tailwaters – prior to any decision.
Recreation fees collected at USACE water resources development projects help support reinvestment in recreation facilities and address deferred maintenance needs. If potential changes are proposed, the district will strive to keep stakeholders informed as the evaluation progresses and communicate decisions that may affect visitors
“Public engagement and stakeholder considerations remain integral to our review process before any determination is finalized,” said Lt. Col. Guillermo Guandique, Nashville District commander.
